The Midcoast Pirates are an officially recognized, adult, Unified Basketball team and delegation of Special Olympics Maine. Unified Basketball is a community-level sports team, promoting social inclusion, leadership, and friendship for athletes with and without disabilities. Players and on-court partners train and compete together under the guidance of Head Coach Tammy Blackman and Assistant Coach Kristi Poole-Peaslee. The team welcomes any adult basketball player, over eighteen years of age, for whom Boothbay is their closest team option.

The Pirates are proud to call Russell Gymnasium home. The team extends special thanks to the Boothbay Region YMCA for being the team’s fiduciary sponsor and special thanks to the supportive communities of the region.

Look for the Pirates at major community events—and please become team fans! Our season runs from early January through March Madness, with statewide tournaments concluding the season.
